Call for DCLA Volunteers to help with the National Library Legislative Day
events in May!
We are looking for energetic volunteers to help with this great event that
is co-sponsored by DCLA and the local ALA office. DCLA contributes time to
help get the event packets ready for the delegates on Saturday, May 10 from
9:30 til noon. We also need one or two volunteers to help distribute the
packets on Tuesday, May 13 and 3 o4 4 volunteers to help with
meeting/greeting at the closing reception on the Hill on Wednesday, May 14.
Here are the specifics:
Saturday morning, May 10 - from 9:00 til noon, breakfast is provided. We
will be gathering all the information together for the state delegates. We
need about 9 or 10 volunteers for this event.
Tuesday morning, May 13 from 8am til 10am. We will be passing out the
state information packets. We need 1-2 volunteers for this date at the
event hotel.
Wednesday evening, May 14 from 5pm til 7pm. We will be meeting and
greeting delegates as they finish an exhausting day of meeting with their
Congress members. The location of the reception is the Senate Building on
the Hill.
If you are interested in volunteering for any of these events, please let
Barbara Folensbee. They are all great
ways to give support to ALA's efforts to raise the awareness of Congress
concerning the issues that face libraries today and your participation is
greatly appreciated!
