Gregory S. Smith, author of How to Protect Your Children on the Internet: A
Road Map for Parents and Teachers, will give an Internet Safety Seminar for parents
on Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. in the first floor auditorium of the Cleveland
Park Neighborhood Library, Connecticut and Macomb Streets, N.W. A book sale and
signing of How to Protect Your Children on the Internet, courtesy of the Trover Shop,
will follow the program.
Mr. Smith will give a talk about the risks of going online for today’s children and
how to mitigate those risks so their children will have a great experience on the Internet.
He’ll offer a frank discussion of today’s risks including sexual predators, inappropriate
content, and personal data protection to parents of children between the ages of 8 and 18.
Mr. Smith is Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Information and
Technology at the World Wildlife Fund in Washington, D.C., and Adjunct Professor in
the School of Professional Studies in Business and Education Graduate Programs at
Johns Hopkins University.
The Cleveland Park Branch of the D.C. Public Library is located near the
