Tour of the U.S. Naval Observatory Library

Join the DCLA Reference & Library Instruction Interest Group at the U.S. Naval Observatory Library

On this DCLA tour, we will--

  • Tour library and learn about library services
  • Visit rare book collection (includes works by Galileo, Newton, Copernicus, Kepler)
  • See observatory telescope
  • See beautiful building designed by Richard Morris Hunt (architect to the stars - he also did the Breakers and the Biltmore for the Vanderbilt family)
  • View Washington, D.C. from up high
  • Eat light refreshments

When: Thursday, March 27, 2008; 5:30-7pm

Where: U.S. Naval Observatory

  • Accessible via Metrobus N2, N4 (Massachusetts Ave. Line).

  • Parking available. Enter via South Gate entrance, and proceed to building 1 (Library). See map.
  • Meet at building 1 (Library)
  • Bring with you a government-issued photo ID.

Cost: $5 DCLA members or library school students; $10 non-members
All attendees are asked to supply their birthdate (mm/dd/year) to Alex. This information is required by Observatory security beforehand, as it will be checked against your ID. Bring a government-issued photo ID for entrance.
