Pulitzer-prize winning science columnist for the New York Times and author of
The Canon: A Whirligig Tour of the Beautiful Basics of Science Natalie Angier will give
a book talk called “Science Fun for Everyone” on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. in
the first floor auditorium of the Cleveland Park Neighborhood Library, Connecticut and
Macomb Streets, N.W. A book sale and signing of The Canon, courtesy of the Trover Shop, will follow the program.
Ms. Angier will take the audience on a journey through the major scientific
disciplines—physics, chemistry, biology, geology, and astronomy. Along the way,
she’ll explain what’s happening when coffee gets cold, what our liver cells do, and
how we’re all made of stardust. She’ll also explore some of the great issues of our
time from stem cells and bird flu to evolution and global warming.
Ms. Angier won a Pulitzer prize in the category of beat reporting for the New
York Times. Her books include Natural Obsessions (on cancer research), The Beauty of
the Beastly, and Woman: An Intimate Geography.
The Cleveland Park Branch of the D.C. Public Library is located near the
