DCLA Annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony (24 May 2012)

Come celebrate with DCLA! The Annual Banquet is a time to enjoy good food and good company!

This year's special guest is Roberta Shaffer, Associate Librarian for Library Services at the Library of Congress.

The evening will also include our annual Awards Ceremony recognizing outstanding achievements within our community and honoring new recipients of the DCLA Student Financial Aid Awards.

Banquet includes hors d'oeuvres, a four course meal including a vegetarian option, wine and other beverages. Please register with your meal choice by May 14.

*$5 savings! plus DCLA Memberships begin on July 1 every year and end on June 30. Applications received after April 1 will carry through the following year.

Join the Military Libraries Group of DC/SLA and DCLA for a tour of Dodana Manor, home of George Marshall, soldier and statesman on Saturday, Aug 18, 2012.

REGISTER to reserve space on the tour and/or request carpooling.

DATE: August 18, 2012

TIME: 10:45 a.m. at Dodana for 11 a.m. Tour http://www.georgecmarshall.org/

(Tour is about 1 hour/l hour 15 minutes)

COST: $8.00 per person. (Have Cash ready at the door)

TRANSPORTATION: Carpool from Vienna Metro (orange line); Leave Vienna Metro, South Parking at 10:15 a.m. Please complete the reservation form at DC/SLA to reserve a Carpool Seat.

ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION: Drive yourself with family and friends; meet at Dodana Manor at 10:45.

OTHER THINGS TO DO IN LEESBURG AREA: Lunch in Leesburg; visit antique shops or head for the Leesburg Outlets, visit site of Civil War – Battle of Balls Bluff ; go up Rt 15 North, there are several wineries before you hit Point of Rocks and cross the Potomac into Maryland, or just head home.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Vienna Metro Station area is under construction; meeting could be a problem; currently Vienna Metro South Parking is a nightmare. MIGHT be completed by mid-August, but don’t put money on it! So communicate and coordinate!
