      <title>New Librarians Discussion Group (14 Sep 2010)</title>
      <description>&lt;P&gt;The DCLA New Librarians Interest Group will join with the DC/SLA Young Professionals Group for a casual discussion at Cantina Marina in the Southwest/Waterfront neighborhood.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The New Librarians Interest Group is an effort to bring together DCLA members early in their careers and encourage them to share their experiences, learn from one another, and work together to&amp;nbsp;put their own spin on the profession of librarianship.&lt;/P&gt;

      <title>The Catholic University School of Library and Information Science Colloquium Series (21 Sep 2010)</title>
      <description>&lt;font size="4"&gt;Information Professionals as Intelligence Analysts: Making the Transition&lt;/font&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;A Colloquium with Dr. Edna Reid&lt;br&gt;Intelligence Analyst, Federal Bureau of Investigation &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;About the Speaker: Dr. Edna Reid’s distinguished career uniquely qualifies her to span the disciplines of Library Science and Intelligence Analysis. Currently an&lt;br&gt;intelligence analyst at the FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC, she was formerly Associate Professor of Library Science at Clarion University, PA. She has also served as research scientist and project manager in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory at the University of Arizona, Tucson, and as Associate Professor with Nanyang Business School, NTU, Singapore. Prior to coming to Asia, Dr. Reid was at the SCLIS, Rutgers University, and as a postdoctoral researcher at the UC Berkeley, she conducted research in terrorism information services.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Her areas of specialization are competitive intelligence, web mining, and terrorism informatics. Her research focuses on web mining of extremist groups' digital artifacts (e.g., web sites, forums, multimedia). She was a founding member and served as President of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals. She has published in a number of journals, conference proceedings, and edited collections. One of her articles is entitled Information Professionals as Intelligence Analysts: Making the Transition.       <title>New Librarians Discussion Group (19 Oct 2010)</title>
